Elizabeth Askren won the Britten-Pears Orchestra Musicians’ Company Conductor’s Bursary as a Conducting Fellow at this year’s Aldeburgh Easter Festival. This year’s festival featured conductor Bernard Labadie, Music Director of Canada’s top baroque ensemble Les Violons du Roy, two outstanding soloists, Isabelle van Keulen and Isabel Charisius, the Britten–Pears Chamber Choir and the Anton Bruckner Choir in a program of Mozart masterpieces: the Sinfonia Concertante, K. 364 and the Requiem (Levin version ).
Over the course of the residency, Ms. Askren had the opportunity of observing and assisting at rehearsals and sectionals, and benefitted from working on adapting period techniques to modern instruments with a team of renowned and experienced musicians.
